Steve Hjelle,  Senior Pastor Is individual teaching available? One-to-one discipleship is available upon request.  Such training usually runs for about twelve weeks.  Pastoral counseling is also available. Why should I participate in a small group? We believe small groups are a very important part of the Christian life because small groups are what Jesus Christ used to train His followers. We are simply following His example. While large group meetings and one-to-one discipling relationships certainly have their unique value, we believe small groups have the greatest potential for creating lasting change in the life of a disciple.  In a healthy small group, members develop trust and are able to share their unique challenges with one another.  This enables the members to live our their Christian faith in the context of a caring community, giving and receiving nurture and accountability.  The purpose is to gain knowledge that results in life change, becoming more and more like Jesus Christ. Contact Dee for more small group information efcdp@att.net Small Group Ministries A small group consists of three to twelve people that meet on a regular basis (at least twice a month) to become more fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.  The foundation of a small group is the study of the Bible.  Trained leaders conduct the studies with an information atmosphere that encourages group participation.  All small group leaders have successfully completed a thorough training program, and participate in the Ministry Community for accountability and in-service training. The focus is not only gaining knowledge about the Bible and following Jesus Christ, but changing our behavior to more closely follow his example. Are there different kinds of small groups? Yes.  We offer small groups for teens, men, women, and mixed adults.  The commitment level expected from group members varies between groups. When do the groups meet? That is determined by the members of each group.  The only times a group could not meet would be Sunday mornings or when the Ministry Community meets. The Ministry Community is where small group leaders and other EFCDP ministry leaders gather to be discipled.  The Ministry Community is led by the Senior Pastor and meets on the first and third Wednesday evenings. Where do small groups meet? That is up to the group.  We encourage groups to meet in homes or members, although groups may also meet at the church as space permits.  Meeting in public places on a regular basis is discouraged because it tends to inhibit personal sharing and frank discussions (unless a private room has been arranged).
